Since 1969, Felix Storch, Inc. (FSI) has been manufacturing and distributing specialty major appliances to the residential, professional, commercial, hospitality, and scientific markets. Through our Summit® division, we manufacture the industry's largest collection of undercounter and ADA compliant refrigeration products, as well as a large selection of outdoor appliances, cooking appliances, and more. We serve medical and scientific customers through our Accucold® division and carry a wide line of warming cabinets under our PureTherm® brand. Our Summit Commercial® division focuses on the commercial foodservice market. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified for quality assurance, with an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certified calibration laboratory.
Felix Storch, Inc., (FSI) was founded in 1969 and has been a leading supplier of specialty, professional, commercial, and medical refrigerators and freezers, as well as cooking appliances ever since. In our first year, we trademarked the Summit Appliance® brand name and began our distribution in Long Island City, New York. In 1983, needing additional room for expansion, we moved our headquarters and operations to the Bronx. In 1998 we purchased our current HQ building in the Bronx, where our manufacturing, operations, back office, and distribution are all located. Our products now include a wide range of major appliances sold both nationally and internationally and delivered to the Northeastern United States using our own FSI trucks. FSI achieved ISO 9001:2015 for its quality management and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certification for its Accucold calibration laboratory. Despite our expansion, FSI is still privately owned, and managed by the founding family, with a group of veteran and new industry professionals.
FSI's manufacturing, office, and operations headquarters are located at 770 Garrison Avenue in the heart of the Bronx, New York. To accommodate our continued growth, in 2008 we added a state-of-the-art warehouse in Edison, New Jersey, which was expanded in 2018. In 2010 FSI purchased a building in Wallingford, Connecticut, that houses our fabrication facility, bringing our total property for product development, manufacturing, and warehousing to over 400,000 square feet. A large portion of the energy used by our Bronx and Edison facilities is generated by a solar installation on our roofs, helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Today, we carry over 600 basic models of specialty refrigerators, freezers and cooking appliances, including the industry's largest collection of built-in undercounter and ADA compliant models. Our residential and professional product line includes unique choices for smaller kitchens, with a large selection of frost-free refrigerators, gas and electric ranges and cooktops, wine cellars, beer dispensers, slim-fitting laundry and dishwashers, and weatherproof outdoor appliances. We also serve the commercial and foodservice market with beverage centers, display freezers, and other appliances that comply with NSF standards. Through our Summit Medical and Accucold® brand, we manufacture and distribute refrigeration for pharmaceutical, scientific, medical, and laboratory applications. Our newest product line, PureTherm™, includes warming cabinets for hospital use. We work hard to expedite the order and delivery process, offering next day shipping on virtually all in-stock products. For the Northeast region of the United States, we deliver through own fleet of FSI trucks.
At FSI, our focus is crafting innovative products to meet the unique needs of customers who might not find their appliance solution in a big box store. We carry a huge selection of major appliances in hard-to-find footprints, including counter depth smaller kitchen refrigerator-freezers; under-counter selections in 6, 12, 15, 18, 20, 24 and 30 inch widths; and the industry’s largest collection of 32" high ADA compliant undercounter products. Our Accucold® medical refrigeration line includes selections for general purpose, products with defined temperature ranges, and highly stabilized vaccine refrigeration. Our manufacturing facilities allow us to customize our product line in both style and function, such as achieving specific temperature ranges (whether colder or warmer) for unique food, beverage, or medical products; changing the exterior appearance of appliances to match homes, offices or institutional settings; or modifying the performance and dimensions of products to fit unusual spaces. We offer private label OEM opportunities for our resellers, with the ability to customize our extensive product line to the individual specifications of different customer bases. FSI's innovation has been recognized with 3 US patents that enable us to add proprietary technology to some of our products.
From our beginning in 1969, FSI has been a New York based company. Our location in NYC has inspired many of our distinct product lines and our focus on smaller appliances with the functionality and quality of larger ones. We take great pride in our homegrown workforce and strive to keep much of its production and value-added manufacturing in-house and in the USA. In 2007, FSI matched a $248,000 grant from the NYC Department of Small Business with $300,000 of its own investment to provide specialized training to its employees. Seventy-five members of the FSI team completed a year-long course in subjects such as quality control, customer service, packaging, lean manufacturing, assembly, safety and warehousing. In light of its success for both FSI and New York, the program was renewed in 2009, with an expanded curriculum that added instruction in ESL and mathematics. We are recognized as a Made In NYC company, as we fully manufacture several of our product lines (including electric cooktops and blanket warmers) in our Bronx facilities. In 2014, we were recognized as one of NYC's leading employers in proactively hiring veterans. In 2018 NYC again awarded FSI a $230,000 training grant, matched by FSI, for putting our workforce through six sigma and technical training.
