We currently have an opening to join our order entry team to acknowledge and enter customer orders into our accounting system. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is needed. Some experience with computerized accounting systems or ERP's is essential. There is some phone work involved to coordinate shipping details or expedite orders with customers as needed.

Professional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Some college or equivalent training in business or data entry

Job Description

All FSI office staff interact heavily with other departments to handle order flows efficiently and on a timely basis, so teamwork is the number one priority. Individual responsibilities will include:
  • Receiving, checking and acknowledging customer orders
  • Checking stock, and communicating where necessary with customers or our sales team
  • Entering orders into our system
  • Researching problems and customer inquiries
  • Double checking order accuracy
  • Handling customer inquiries on shipping status via phone or email
  • Preparing daily reports as needed
  • General clerical duties on accounting and administrative duties as needed.

We specialize in major appliances for smaller kitchens and special markets. We are convenient to public transportation and are close to most major highways. We have modern offices, a business casual dress policy and an operations driven busy environment. The hours for this position are 7:30 to 4:30 M-F but some occasional overtime until 6:00 pm may be necessary from time to time. Candidates will be required to take several very short tests in math and Excel.

Role Summary/Purpose:
If you are seeking a career, and not just a job, consider Summit Appliances. Our continued growth has created an opening in our management team to handle the growth in our warehousing, shipping, inventory and logistics operations. This is a hands-on job, based in our warehouse and warehouse office managing a group of 10 to 20 employees and multiple operations simultaneously. Our warehouse runs two overlapping shifts from 7 am to approximately 7 pm daily. This position will need to be present from mid morning until closing, Monday through Friday.

This position is a senior management position, working with and reporting to the operations manager and Director of Operations. Only candidates with at least 3 years of supervisory experience and who have autonomously managed a sizeable warehouse will be considered.

On a daily basis we handle a dozen of our own trucks, customer pick ups, dozens of common carrier pickups and inbound trailers and our trucks bringing transfers from our other warehouse. We are looking for someone who can handle a high pressure job – who is comfortable managing staff and who can interact with upper management, co-workers and maintain workplace rules.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of progressive management experience in a warehouse/shipping setting
  • Qualifications to manage and supervise 10 to 20 staff
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of organization
  • Some operations experience
  • Ability to function both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use Excel, Google docs, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work well with other staff and interact with other departments and management

The job description will include:
  • Checking in trucks and assuring all merchandise is accounted for and stored properly
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, organized workplace
  • Working with shipping departments to expedite what is needed before truckers arrive
  • Responsibility for securing the building and trucks prior to nighttime lock up
  • Keeping inventory organized, and training workers on material handling to avoid damage to merchandise

The hours of the job require working Monday through Friday, generally from around 9:30 am until closing which is generally 6:45 to 7:00 pm or occasionally a little later.

We are conveniently located to public transportation and highways right off Bruckner Blvd in the Hunts Point Section of the Bronx. We have modern offices and a casual dress code. The position is full time, M-F. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience and discretionary performance bonuses.
